LONG BIOGRAPHY Angel Cordero is the author of Stay Down: A Memoir of Brooklyn, Brotherhood, and Survival. Born in Queens and raised in Brooklyn, he grew up alongside three brothers in a family marked by poverty, instability, and violence. His memoir follows their childhood through Whipple Street, homeless shelters, a welfare hotel, and the Farragut projects. Cordero spent years putting their story into words. He writes with real names and a direct account of what happened, including his own decisions. The book explores how the brothers protected one another, what survival demanded of them, and what it took to build a different life. Today, Cordero is a father and husband based in Florida. Published by Cordero Publishing, Stay Down is available in six languages. He also narrates the English audiobook. In October 2026, he discussed the experiences behind the memoir with Scott Johnson on episode 270 of What Was That Like?
